What motivated you to go into the hotel industry?

I grew up in hospitality. My parents were in the industry, so from an early age I was surrounded by the rhythm of hotel life, the energy, the people, the sense of creating moments for others. It never felt like work to me; it felt like a natural calling. That passion has stayed with me ever since.

At work, what puts a smile on your face?

Many things. But if I had to choose, it would be moments of shared success with the team. Seeing a guest delighted, or celebrating an achievement together, big or small, always brings joy. Team spirit is the heartbeat of any hotel, and I’m proud that we take time to celebrate our wins together.

How did you start your hotel career?

I began by helping in my parents’ business after school. Later, I pursued formal training at a humble hotel and catering school in Brittany, which further shaped my discipline and passion for the industry.

What are the skills needed to run a successful hotel?

Passion, dedication, and people skills are essential. Hotels are about people both guests and colleagues. To succeed, you must love working with and for them.

What does a "typical day" look like as General Manager of a luxury hotel?

How long do I have to explain 555 (“5”, in Thai, is pronounced as “Ha” as in laughing). The truth is, no two days are the same, and that’s what makes it so exciting. Some days are high-pressure, others full of unexpected surprises, but I like to say “pressure is a privilege.” A typical day is fast-paced, demanding, but also a lot of fun.

What's your idea of luxury?

Luxury, to me, is about having time, space, and choice. True luxury is deeply personal — it’s not about extravagance, but about freedom and comfort tailored to each individual.

What are you offering in your hotel that Airbnb can’t?

Charisma!

What practices do you implement to uphold cleanliness within your hotel?

We live by the same standards as our guests. Use your own public toilet, sleep in your own room, and enjoy your own spa. If you hold yourself to that standard, nothing slips through.

What sustainable practices have you implemented at your hotel?

Green Globe certification as a minimum. Being audited by 3rd party is essential

What do you consider to be the biggest challenges the hospitality industry faces today?

Staff shortages following the pandemic continue to be a challenge globally. Attracting, training, and retaining talent is critical to ensuring hospitality continues to thrive.

What advice would you give to a prospective general manager?

Go for it! I have never looked back.

What's your favourite hotel in the world and why?

Can I self-nominate?? Ha ha

How do you train your team to anticipate guest needs?

Watch the body language, it always tells a story

What’s your approach to handling high-profile or VIP guests?

Welcome them at the airport when they arrive. Go to bed when they do the same. Say goodbye at front door when they leave. Make sure they have your private contact details

What makes the guest experience at your hotel truly stand out?

It’s not just about service, it’s about emotion, how we make people feel. That’s what makes experiences truly memorable.

How has technology changed the guest experience at your hotel?

Technology has made people less patient, everything is expected faster.

What sustainability or eco-conscious practices have you implemented recently?

Food waste reduction. It’s one of the most impactful ways hotels can reduce their environmental footprint, and it’s something staff and our guests also care about deeply.

Can you share a memorable guest feedback story that stayed with you?

Too many to choose from. We are ranked 3-4 on TripAdvisor Bangkok which is fantastic. Love comment when people mention their stay was worth every penny.

Are there any exciting projects, partnerships, or renovations in the pipeline?

Absolutely plenty. In fact, I’m writing this from our next opening in the Maldives, V Villas Maldives – MGallery Collection. It’s an incredibly exciting project, and I can’t wait to welcome our first guests there soon.

What's the one question you were hoping I wouldn’t ask?

Probably what my salary is! Ha ha ha
